Last week, the Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs approved regulations for the approval of new housing plans, in an effort to develop the built environment and improve the urban landscape, Mr. Majed Al-Hogail, Minister of Housing and Acting Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs, explained that by approving the new housing plans, the Ministry aims to make a positive contribution to health and community aspects, enhance quality of life, and promote safe mobility.
The regulations for approving new residential plans included the design of pedestrian paths for new residential neighborhoods and addressing pedestrian traffic in existing residential neighborhoods, with the aim of improving quality of life and the urban landscape. The regulations also included the provision of connected and safe pathways and barrier-free streets to create a connected network for pedestrian movement within neighborhoods.
