The first report of the Housing Program in 2021 revealed the program’s success in achieving its 2020 targets; by enabling 390,819 Saudi families to benefit from housing options and solutions that meet their aspirations and financial capabilities, and by facilitating faster access to suitable housing at lower prices through a variety of options and affordable down payments, with the aim of raising the homeownership rate to 70 percent by 2030, in accordance with the objectives of the Housing Program, one of the programs under the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
407,000 tax-exempt certificates
The report showed that the total number of tax certificates for first homes issued from the program’s inception through the end of last month reached 407,479 for all beneficiaries of the Ministry of Housing, the Real Estate Development Fund, and others, with the aim of increasing homeownership rates among citizens. The report highlighted the program’s most significant achievements during the past year, 2020.
138,000 families have become homeowners
The report indicated that a total of 390,819 families benefited from all the housing and financing options and solutions provided by the program over the past year, exceeding the target, despite the exceptional challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. Among them, 138,317 households moved into their homes, while other beneficiary households opted for units under construction in the suburbs, residential land, and self-construction. Meanwhile, 34,011 families benefited from the “Sakani” program last December, including 15,586 families who moved into their homes.
100,000 diverse housing units
The report reviewed updates on construction work across 60 projects being implemented in partnership with qualified private-sector real estate developers to provide more than 100,000 diverse housing units—including apartments, villas, and townhouses—across the Kingdom’s cities, as part of 93 projects Under construction, these projects offer more than 141,000 units listed on the platform and the “Sakani” app, as well as 42 ready-to-move-in residential projects with an average price of 350,000 riyals, which are distinguished by their move-in readiness and the completion of their infrastructure, services, and public facilities.
217 residential plans and 178,000 residential plots
The report addressed residential land and the development of plans that the “Sakani” website and app allows users to easily select and reserve online within 217 residential plans offering 178,489 residential plots distributed across various regions and cities of the Kingdom.
User-Friendly Digital Services and Procedures
The report also highlighted the user-friendly electronic services and procedures offered by the “Sakani” app, including instant eligibility determination, browsing various housing and financing options, to the immediate reservation of units and land, the issuance of price quotes, the electronic issuance of land contracts, access to real estate advisory services, the selection of model designs for self-build beneficiaries, and the electronic issuance of building permits, documenting and issuing lease agreements, and electronically transferring housing subsidies between spouses.
