General Authority for Competition (GAC) publishes guidelines for examining mergers and acquisitions

The General Authority for Competition (GAC) published today the Mergers and Acquisitions Examination Guidelines, which contains a number of clarifications to help visualize the reporting standards on economic concentrations, raise the level of transparency and enable organizations and individuals to follow the best methods in understanding and applying the Competition Law issued by the Royal Decree and its executive regulations issued by the decision of the Board of Directors of the General Authority for Competition.The Mergers and Acquisitions Examination Guide aims to raise the level of transparency and provide guidance to contribute to providing a competitive business environment that attracts investments, enhancing the availability of goods with high quality and diverse prices, and stimulating innovation and development to support economic growth.
H.E. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Zoum, Governor of the Authority, pointed out that the guide contributes to helping stakeholders including companies, government agencies, legal professionals, legal advisors and the general public to understand competition rules in examining and evaluating M&A transactions.
