The National Water Company announced today that it has signed, for the first time, 91 agreements to install more than 500,000 water and sanitation connections at a cost of approximately three billion riyals, which will benefit more than 6 million people, as part of the “Isal” project announced last December.
The company explained that the “Eisal” project represents a strategic shift in the management of residential connections, as it worked over the past year to develop it as a standalone product to help accelerate service delivery to customers and improve service quality, in addition to increasing water and sanitation network coverage rates, thereby helping to improve quality of life and achieve the goals of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030. It noted that the project involves the installation of more than 276,000 water connections and over 229,000 wastewater connections, to be carried out by 44 companies across all regions of the Kingdom, pointing out that its benefits are not limited to the installation of residential connections alone, as it will contribute to economic growth; the local content requirement stipulated by the company exceeds 50% for water and sanitation connections and service lines, and the new connections will be equipped with smart meters.
It explained that in selecting contractors, it ensured they specialize in infrastructure work for water and sewage networks, emphasizing that its customers’ evaluations of these companies will be an important part of the
evaluation process, and in assigning residential connection requests to them.
The company also confirmed that it has automated the process for requesting residential connections, as customers will be able to request a connection, track the status of their request, and check the estimated time for service delivery electronically. It added that customers can also identify
the contractor who will perform their specific installation and view that contractor’s ratings from other customers through the company’s online channels. It noted that customers will receive a text message at every stage of the process, from the initial request through installation, and will be able to rate the contractor’s work.
