The National Water Company has confirmed the adoption of a new mechanism for collecting payments for water and sanitation services, which involves collecting payment “in advance” before providing services to all categories of consumers.

The company explained that this measure was implemented in accordance with the ministerial decision issued on the 7th of Muharram 1443 AH, which stipulates in the fifth paragraph of Article 3 that “The collection of fees for the provision of water and sanitation services in advance, prior to service connection, from all categories of consumers.”

Regarding the inability of some customers to benefit from the water tanker service, the company clarified that the water tanker service is intended for those outside the water network coverage, those experiencing scheduled or emergency outages, as well as those with scheduled pumping.

It added, “As for neighborhoods served by the network, where pumping is continuous, they are directly included in the ”Neighborhood Without a Tank’ initiative, as customers there do not need to request tankers, thanks to continuous pumping. In this way, the company contributes to the fair distribution of water to all, while reducing tanker traffic within neighborhoods that do not need them—and the resulting traffic congestion—and preserving road infrastructure and the city’s urban landscape.”.

It explained that the company is working to expand the network and transition to continuous pumping, affirming its intention to make Saudi Arabia tanker-free.

The water company stated that if a customer notices a disruption in water supply to neighborhoods served by the network, they can contact the company directly through its digital channels to file a water outage complaint, and the issue will be addressed as quickly as possible.
