“Al-Sharqiyah” Discusses the Latest Developments, Updates, and Challenges Facing the Implementation of the Saudi Building Code

The Eastern Province Municipality organized a workshop today at its headquarters entitled “Objectives and Challenges of Implementing the Saudi Building Code,” which addressed highlighting the challenges facing the implementation of the Saudi Building Code and the latest developments and updates to it.
During the workshop, His Excellency the Mayor of the Eastern Province, Engineer Fahd Al-Jubair, stressed the importance of the building code and the need to follow the latest methods and technologies in its application, referring to the Saudi building code, its controls, requirements and mechanisms, which regulate the relationship between all parties, indicating that the workshop aims to clarify the latest developments issued regarding the code and the system for issuing building permits and to directly address the most prominent challenges.
The workshop, which targeted engineering offices, municipal sector engineers, and related parties, included a presentation of the Secretariat’s experience in managing building permits in applying the code in terms of requirements, conditions, stages of preparing work plans, etc., the achievements of the building permit management in projects at the regional level, the scope of the Saudi Building Code and building occupancy, in addition to a detailed presentation of the requirements for applying the Saudi Building Code, the new vision for construction permits, and the mechanism for applying for permits through the platform.
