His Royal Highness Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz, Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Council of Economic and Development Affairs—may God protect him—launched the Asir Region Development Strategy under the slogan “Peaks and Traditions,” which aims to achieve a comprehensive and unprecedented development renaissance for the region by injecting 50 billion riyals through diverse investments to finance vital projects and developing tourist attractions on the majestic peaks of Asir; to make Asir a year-round global destination, relying on its strengths in culture and nature that blend tradition and modernity, and contributing to driving social and economic growth in the region.
His Highness announced that the Asir Strategy aims to transform the region into a year-round global tourist destination, attracting more than 10 million visitors from within and outside the Kingdom by 2030, by leveraging the region’s vast tourism potential through high-quality tourism projects designed to highlight its majestic peaks, geographical and natural diversity, and reveal its rich cultural and heritage assets.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince affirmed that the Asir Strategy seeks to attract investments from within and outside the Kingdom, which will in turn contribute to creating effective economic momentum; by implementing an integrated system to streamline procedures and strengthen the role of tourism and culture as key drivers of economic development in Asir.
His Royal Highness the Crown Prince noted that by 2030, the implementation of the strategy will contribute to creating new job opportunities, in addition to improving the quality of life and upgrading basic services and infrastructure in the region, including telecommunications, health, transportation, and other enablers.
On this occasion, His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of the Asir Region, expressed his deepest gratitude and appreciation to His Royal Highness the Crown Prince for his continued support and generous attention to the Asir region and its people, and for launching the Asir Region Development Strategy, which seeks to achieve a comprehensive renaissance for the region, to benefit the people of Asir and its residents, thereby raising the quality of life, developing infrastructure and services, and contributing to attracting investments and advancing the region’s social and economic development.
