The Saudi Central Bank announced today, Tuesday, the Kingdom’s consumer spending figures for last week, specifically for the period from October 3 to 9.
It noted that last week saw spending of more than 9 billion riyals across 113 million transactions, representing a 17% decrease in transaction value and a 5.1% decrease in the number of transactions compared to the previous week.
Consumers spent more than 1.4 billion riyals on food and beverages, making it the top category of spending this week, followed by other sectors with more than 1.3 billion riyals, with spending on restaurants and cafes coming in third at approximately 1.3 billion riyals.
Spending on miscellaneous goods and services ranked fourth, with consumers spending about 900 million riyals on this category, followed by 701.6 million riyals on healthcare, 612.2 million riyals on clothing and footwear, 598.1 million riyals at gas stations, and 503.2 million riyals on transportation.
They also spent 360.7 million riyals on construction and building materials, 293 million riyals on furniture, 296.2 million riyals on entertainment and culture, 257.8 million riyals on electronic and electrical appliances, 201.3 million riyals on jewelry, 156.8 million riyals on hotels, 102.5 million riyals on telecommunications, 94 million riyals on education, and 85.8 million riyals on public utilities.
