Editor-in-Chief Abdulaziz Al-Issa writes about the signing of the Professional Charter: The Mediator… and the Real Estate Oath

Correcting the randomness, lack of discipline, and lack of commitment to regulations and systems in the real estate sector requires long-term policies; this is done gradually, systematically, and thoughtfully through multiple stages through which draft regulations are presented to the public and specialists to express their opinions. Perhaps this approach will draw signs of satisfaction and acceptance among those dealing with the sector.

The approval and ratification of the Real Estate Brokerage System was not a surprise to service providers, but rather was expected and awaited by a large base of real estate brokers , who were elevated by the regulations from the title of "broker," which suggests that they have no profession, to the term "real estate broker" who enjoys the support of government institutions by providing a package of training courses implemented by the Real Estate Institute, and electronic platforms that have dedicated pages to the pioneers of this profession. This is in addition to the interest of the General Authority for Real Estate, which launched the Real Estate Brokerage Establishments System exactly two years ago, in December 2021, and did not stop at that; it also illuminated the way by setting controls for real estate advertisements in June 2021, and as a result, it sought to remove distortions by all available means, as it detected more than 7421 violating advertisements, addressed 5726 of them, and applied the legal procedures against the violations. Here, the seriousness of the authorities is highlighted in curbing everything that hinders the progress of the real estate sector market so that it does not become a fertile ground for non-specialists in the sector.

Now, after the approval of the real estate brokerage system , and with the end of the period granted by the state after 180 days to correct the conditions of real estate brokers, many will leave the formal market, and the Real Estate Authority must intensify its campaigns so that violators do not turn to practicing chaotic work from inside formal offices to replicate a new type of cover-up that undermines real estate security.

We call on the competent authorities to obligate the broker and owners of real estate brokerage establishments to perform the (real estate oath or sign the professional charter), similar to other professions such as medicine, engineering, accounting, and others. This is to preserve real estate wealth from being lost, and to preserve the rights of clients and property owners. This approach, if implemented, will set a significant milestone in the practice of the real estate profession.
