The forum sessions were graced by His Excellency the Governor of the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization, Dr. Saad Al-Qasabi, His Excellency the Director General of Civil Defense, Lieutenant General Suleiman Al-Amro, Assistant Minister of Energy for Development and Excellence, Engineer Ahmed Al-Zahrani and a group of government and private sectors related to Saudi Building Code implementation.
Important roles of relevant authorities
The forum dealt with introducing the economic advantages of the code, the roles of government agencies and incentivizing engineering offices to apply the Saudi Building Code to buildings and facilities, where the Secretary General of the Authority, Engineer Abdulnasser Al-Abdullatif, emphasized the importance of the Saudi Building Code and the roles it plays, and the achievements it provides to society.
In turn, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers pointed out the essential role of the engineering field in the Saudi Building Code, in addition to the contributions of the Authority through its training programs on the areas of the code in order to raise the readiness of engineering cadres in the application of the Saudi Building Code. The forum sessions focused on the work of the Saudi Building Code Forum, discussing the development of activities that support the inspection mechanism and investment in the Saudi Building Code, in addition to the role of the Authority in empowering the capabilities of national engineering cadres in applying the Saudi Building Code through its specialized and supported training programs for its members.
The sessions addressed the future of the engineering office system in the Kingdom and the most prominent objectives of the building code: The technical and scientific requirements and standards associated with buildings, the challenges facing the owners of engineering offices in its application and the appropriate professional solutions, in addition to the engineering services provided in terms of implementation and supervision of plans, the procedures of the Saudi Building Code, and the importance of engineering program specializations in the construction stages. The sessions addressed the future of the engineering office system in the Kingdom and the most prominent objectives of the building code.
