The Saudi Central Bank announced an update to the instructions regarding the temporary precautionary measures to protect bank customers from financial fraud, which were communicated to banks operating in the Kingdom on 06/09/1443 AH, corresponding to 07/04/2022 AD, based on assessments and monitoring conducted over the past few days.
He explained that the update included raising the daily transfer limit for bank customers back to its previous levels; customers may lower this limit by contacting their bank. The update also included making it possible to open bank accounts remotely (online), in accordance with regulatory procedures, with the updated instructions taking effect starting today, Tuesday, September 11, 1443 AH, corresponding to April 12, 2022.
The “Central Bank” urged bank customers to exercise caution against fraudulent activities and not to disclose banking and personal information—such as PINs and verification codes—to any person or entity, while also emphasizing the importance of verifying the authenticity of the websites they use.
