The Ministry of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, represented by the municipal secretariats and municipalities, announced that it had removed (120,871.162) cubic meters of construction and demolition waste and excavated material from vacant lots over the past year, as part of its ongoing efforts to implement the “Addressing Visual Disturbances“.
The Ministry also removed (1,066,463) illegal billboards and graffiti that marred the public landscape, covering an area of (2,836,447) m², and addressed the situation of (58,061) non-compliant mobile stores, in addition to pruning, landscaping, and planting (14,528,405) trees on main and side streets, and removing (20,621) sites of rest areas, livestock pens, shacks, and camps scattered haphazardly across various regions of the Kingdom.
In addition, the Ministry conducted a survey on the urban landscape in cities to identify shortcomings in addressing visual pollution in Saudi cities, with the participation of more than 142,000 people, in addition to establishing urban mechanisms and policies for the development of informal settlements.
