Under the patronage of His Royal Highness the Emir of Asir Region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Asir Development Authority, the Asir Region Development Authority and the Saudi Commission for Tourism signed a memorandum of understanding on Thursday, May 26, in the village of Zabna in the Asir region, aiming to enhance the status of the Asir region as a global tourist destination by unifying strategies to upgrade tourist destinations, develop tourism products and services provided, raise the level of visitor satisfaction, and exchange experiences and information, and under this agreement, identifying attractions and products and promoting them, and form work teams to follow up the achievement and development of the tourist destinations.
This agreement between the Asir Development Authority and the Saudi Tourism Authority comes under the direct follow-up of His Royal Highness Prince Turki bin Talal bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Asir Region and Chairman of its Development Council, within the framework of close cooperation between government sectors to achieve common strategic goals, which are in line with the Kingdom's Vision 2030, which seeks to put Saudi Arabia on the global tourism map and establish Asir as a unique global tourist destination.
His Highness the Emir of the region and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority said: "The partnership and close cooperation with the Saudi Tourism Authority establishes an important stage in the development of the Asir region, as our partnership with the Authority extends to proposing and defining marketing and distribution strategies for tourist destinations in the region to reach the goals set by the Kingdom's Vision 2030, and the agreement contributes to raising the level of coordination with the Saudi Tourism Authority to support the Destination Management Office at the Asir Development Authority."

On this occasion, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Al-Khatib, Minister of Tourism and Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Tourism Authority, said: "We are pleased with this fruitful partnership and close cooperation with the Aseer Region Development Authority to enhance the region's position as a global tourist destination that attracts visitors from inside and outside the Kingdom throughout the year to enjoy its unique heritage and culture, its charming nature, and the generosity and hospitality of its authentic community: "We are proud of what tourism has reached in the Asir region, and our ambitions are still greater. We are also proud of the many historical villages in the region, including the village of Rijal Almaa, which was listed by the World Tourism Organization a few months ago as one of the best tourist villages in the world.“
Mr. Fahad Hamiduddin, CEO and board member of the Saudi Tourism Authority, said: ”We are working with our partners in the private sector from travel agencies, airlines and tour operators internally and externally to design the best offers, packages, products and experiences to attract tourists from around the world to visit Asir." He added: "Asir has all the tourism ingredients to be a year-round tourist destination for all visitors from inside and outside Saudi Arabia due to its charming nature, towering peaks, diverse cultures and the generosity of its people and their hospitality to all visitors."
