Reasons for rising rents in major cities, particularly Riyadh

1. Population growth in the Riyadh region.

2. Requiring companies with government contracts to establish their headquarters in Riyadh.

3- Increased migration from villages to the capital in search of job opportunities and university education.

4- Expropriation of properties in certain neighborhoods in the Riyadh region and also in some neighborhoods in the Jeddah region.

5- Festivals and seasonal events (such as Riyadh Season and Jeddah Season).

6- Rising prices of freehold real estate.

7- Investment in daily rentals.

8- Residential building designs do not meet the growing demand for rentals.

9- Large-scale government projects.

10- There are no mechanisms or standards to determine the percentage of rent increases by landlords, and price hikes occur arbitrarily.

11 – Requiring companies to provide standardized housing for workers.
