Has the "crisis of thought" in housing come to an end?

Majid Al-Otaibi

The Minister of Housing previously stated that our problem is not a housing crisis, but rather a crisis of thinking, and he noted that the culture of housing is broader than people’s perception of housing as merely land, a dwelling, or a home.

Therefore, Minister Majid Al-Hogail sought housing solutions based on a new way of thinking and a different perspective, centering the citizen as the core of these solutions, He also devised solutions for real estate developers to facilitate the creation of a wide range of high-quality real estate products that meet the needs of families.

A few days ago, we saw Minister Al-Hogail visiting some projects by real estate development companies that have successfully delivered apartments distinguished by their quality and design, thus fulfilling what the minister had previously stated: that our housing crisis is a crisis of mindset.

Today, people—especially small families—are looking for apartments surrounded by amenities rather than villas, due to their lower prices compared to villas. Previously, people would settle for nothing less than a standalone villa, even if it was far from the services citizens need, Today, however, high-quality apartments with distinctive designs have become the standard for those seeking housing.
