Throughout our lives, we encounter different kinds of people every day—individuals with personalities, behaviors, reactions, and moods that vary greatly. Despite the superficial similarities we notice in some faces, it is impossible for personalities to be alike, Each individual’s unique chemistry differs completely from that of others, just as fingerprints and irises differ—there are no two people in the world with the same fingerprint, or at least science has not yet proven such a similarity. . And because humans, by nature—as sociology tells us—are social beings who instinctively tend to live in groups and do not prefer isolation or distancing themselves from others, they turn to making friends and forming friendships within the environment in which they live.
The anxiety begins when choosing a friend, as there are many different types, and their outward appearance may differ from their true nature. There is a type of person who, when you share your dreams or future plans with them, you’ll find them showering you with advice and counsel that isn’t based on knowledge or culture—but rather defies logic—and that discourages you more than it gives you hope, setting you back a thousand steps. This type makes you feel as though they’re helpful to you, but, unfortunately, I see them as weeds growing on the edges of lush orchards—they do more harm than good and must be uprooted. They are like highwaymen who must be eliminated, because they block the path of dreams, hopes, and ambitions for those around them.
This type is a master at firmly shutting doors in your face. It reminds me of a poem we used to study as children, which began, «One day, the fox appeared dressed as a preacher . ...» They possess a magical knack for creating obstacles and challenges, instilling in your heart hesitation and fear of taking any positive step in your life, and whenever you suggest a new idea, task, or project you’d like to undertake, you’ll find nothing but objections and rejection from them; in fact, they sometimes mock, criticize, and ridicule your dreams.
Therefore, when you want to discuss a topic, you must choose the right person who is capable of helping you and offering you sound advice, without being overwhelmed by a spirit of malice and competition—or the feeling that you might succeed and surpass them, leaving them in their failure, causing them to direct the arrows of their hatred toward you, and quickly igniting within them the mechanisms of malice that always flare up in the faces of all those who succeed.
