The Ministry of Commerce Organizes a Workshop on the Importance of Trademark Registration and Classification

Last weekend, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry organized a workshop on trademarks for small and medium-sized enterprises, during which it discussed the importance of trademark design, classification, research, and testing in accordance with the Madrid System for the International Registration of Trademarks. The two-day workshop was attended by a number of representatives from government agencies, the private sector, individuals interested in small and medium-sized enterprises, and entrepreneurs. Participants were briefed on the process for registering trademarks electronically through the Ministry of Commerce and Industry, An entrepreneur was also invited to speak to the audience about the importance and value of trademark registration for protection, as well as for achieving expansion and growth in both the local and international markets.

During the workshop—organized in collaboration with the Ministry’s Global Trade Services Center and the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO)—the Ministry reaffirmed—its commitment to raising awareness and knowledge about the importance of trademarks and supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) given their significant role in strengthening and stabilizing economies, as well as how to leverage international trade agreements to advance the Kingdom’s economic interests.
