It was revealed that The Saudi Recycling Investment Company “SRC” , wholly owned by the Public Investment Fund, announced that it recycled 16 million metric tons of construction and demolition materials during the past year, 2022, through its investment arm, AKAM Materials Recycling Company for Environmental Services, which specializes in construction and demolition waste management solutions.
Engineer Abdulrahman Al-Mana, CEO of “Akam,” explained that the company processed more than 2 million metric tons of construction and demolition materials and returned them to the local market, emphasizing that “Akam” achieved record figures.
He said: “ “Akam” has launched the Green Concrete Block Initiative by recycling and reusing ready-mix concrete waste and supplying it to concrete block factories to advance the concept of a circular economy and reduce the indiscriminate dumping of concrete, noting that a capital budget of 160 million riyals has been allocated to expand operations and processing, improve efficiency, and lead the sector.
Meanwhile, “SARK” that it is moving forward with its subsidiaries toward achieving its goals through a robust and clear strategy to develop the waste management sector in general—and demolition and construction materials in particular—in cooperation with relevant ministries, sectors, and the National Center for Waste Management, in order to achieve the goal of landfill diversion andachieve the targets of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030.
