Cabinet approves amending the name of the “Tourism Authority” to the “General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage”

The Cabinet approved amending the name of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities to the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage. This came during the presidency of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud - may God protect him - during the session held by the Cabinet, Monday evening, at Al Salam Palace in Jeddah.

At the beginning of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Council on the content of the telephone conversation between him and HE President Nursultan Nazarbayev of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and the results of his reception of HE Secretary General of the Gulf Cooperation Council Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al-Zayani.

At the beginning of the session, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques briefed the Council. According to HE Dr. Adel bin Zaid Al-Turaifi, the Cabinet reviewed the topics on the agenda of its session, including topics that the Shura Council was involved in studying, as well as the findings of the General Committee of the Council of Ministers and the Board of Experts of the Council of Ministers, and the Council concluded the following:

After reviewing the transaction submitted by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and after considering Shura Council Resolution No. (5/2) dated 9/3/1426H, the Cabinet decided to approve the exchange of notes between the Secretary-General of the United Nations and the Minister of Foreign Affairs regarding the measures that the Kingdom can take regarding the diplomatic portfolios of the United Nations.

The Cabinet decided to amend the name of the General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities to the Authority for Tourism and National Heritage. <A royal decree has been prepared accordingly.

Fourth:

After reviewing the transaction submitted by the Board of Experts of the Council of Ministers regarding the review of the laws, regulations and orders affected by the Royal Decree No. (A/69) dated 9/4/1436 AH abolishing a number of agencies, the Cabinet decided the following:

1- Forming a temporary committee headed by the Minister of Education and the membership of a number of university directors to be named by an order from the Highness, whose task will be to exercise the powers that were assigned to the Higher Education Council, which was abolished by the aforementioned royal order, related to the ongoing executive matters necessary for the functioning of universities, until the issuance of the universities and labor system.

<2- The Ministry of Civil Service continues to exercise a number of competencies related to civil service affairs. 3- Forming a board of directors for King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology, replacing its supreme body canceled by the aforementioned royal order, and exercising the powers and tasks that were entrusted to it, provided that the board of directors is headed by the president of the city, and its members include representatives from the concerned government agencies, and three people with experience in the city's field of activity.

4- Forming a board of directors for King Abdulaziz City for Science and Technology. 4 - Forming a board of directors for King Abdullah City for Atomic and Renewable Energy, replacing the Supreme Council of the city, which was canceled by the aforementioned royal order, and exercising the powers and tasks that were entrusted to it, provided that the board of directors is headed by the president of the city, and its members include representatives from the concerned government agencies.

5 - The continuation of the Coordination Committee for Atomic and Renewable Energy.

All strategies, decisions and the like issued by the agencies abolished by the aforementioned royal decree will continue to operate until they are amended or terminated.

Fifth :

After considering Shura Council Resolution No. (22/14) dated 27/4/1436H, the Cabinet decided to approve the amendment of paragraph (4) of (Article 8) of the Law of Procedures before the Board of Grievances, issued by Royal Decree No. (M/3) dated 22/1/1435H.

Sixth:

The Cabinet approved appointments at the fifteenth and fourteenth ranks, as follows:

1 - Appointment of Abdulrahman bin Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Sadhan to the post of (Sharia Counselor) at the fifteenth rank in the General Presidency of Scientific Research and Fatwa.

2- Appointing Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Hamad Al-Jarbaa to the post of (Deputy General President for Planning and Development) at the fifteenth rank in the General Presidency of the Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice.

3 - Appointment of Saad bin Ayed bin Saad Al-Buqami to the post of (Customs Advisor) at the fourteenth rank in the General Customs Authority.

4 - Appointment of Nasser bin Abdullah bin Abdulaziz bin Ammar to the post of (Director General of Studies and Research) at the fourteenth rank of the Ministry of Housing.

5 - Appointment of Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Sulaiman Al-Omari to the post of Assistant Undersecretary for Pensions and Assistance at the fourteenth rank in the Ministry of Social Affairs.
