Prices of furnished apartments continue to rise in the Eastern Province at the end of Ramadan and the start of the Eid al-Fitr holiday, due to increased demand, while Owners of furnished apartments seek to adjust their profit margins during social occasions when families are on vacation, particularly during the Eid holiday, which is a golden opportunity to recoup losses incurred by some apartments in previous periods.
Sources close to the matter stated that prices for furnished apartments in Dammam will jump to around 200% during the Eid holidays, confirming that the current price of 150 riyals per room per day will rise to 450 riyals per day due to high demand exceeding market supply. An employee in the accommodation sector reported receiving daily booking requests either directly or via the website, with online bookers paying via Visa. He said: “We have no vacant rooms left; they are all booked at Eid rates,” noting that booking early does not prevent the application of the set price expected during the Eid period. The occupancy rate for furnished apartments during Ramadan is 75%, and it is expected to reach 100% during the Eid holiday.
Statistics also indicate that the largest tourist region in the Kingdom during the Eid holiday is the Eastern Province, which is the top destination for Kingdom residents taking domestic tours during the Eid holiday. The number of licensed apartments in Dammam and Al-Khobar exceeds 100, while the number of unlicensed ones is around 30%.
