The enforcement courts in Riyadh received 12,421 requests for enforcement eviction of properties from tenants registered under the Standard Lease Agreement during 2023, while the total number of eviction requests in the Kingdom reached approximately 33,600, an increase of 3% compared to 2022.
The Makkah region accounted for 10,364 requests, followed by the Eastern Province with 5,221 requests, and then Madinah with 1,685 requests, The number of requests received by the Enforcement Court in the Asir region stood at 868, followed by the Qassim region with 703 requests, the Jazan region with 668 requests, and the Tabuk region with 550 requests. The number of requests received by the enforcement courts in Ha’il is estimated at 370, followed by Al-Jawf with 235, Najran with 216, and the Northern Border Region with 166. Meanwhile, Al-Baha region had the fewest eviction requests for lease contracts, with 90 requests since the beginning of the year.
The Ministry of Justice began accepting requests for enforcement of the Standardized Residential Lease Agreement in enforcement courts in June 2018, recognizing it as an enforceable instrument through the “Standard Lease Agreement” following an electronic integration with the Ministry of Housing. The “Residential Lease Agreement” grants the rightful party the ability to file directly with the enforcement court through a seamless and transparent electronic process.
