His Excellency the Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, stressed that Global Smart Cities Forum, organized by the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) on February 12 and 13, is an opportunity to review the latest progress made by countries around the world, including the Kingdom, in building smart cities projects to achieve the United Nations 2030 Sustainable Development Goals.

His Excellency expressed his expectation that the forum will contribute, God willing, to the outputs, recommendations and proposals to improve the urban landscape in the Kingdom, by forming an ambitious vision for the future of cities using smart solutions and drawing supportive bases for the development of cities and achieving sustainable urban development; thus enhancing efforts to adopt innovative models and smart solutions that contribute to raising the level of efficiency, environmental sustainability and raising the quality of life for city residents, with the human being at the center of its development.

His Excellency expressed his expectation that the forum will contribute to improving the urban landscape in the Kingdom. The Minister of Municipal and Rural Affairs and Housing referred to the Memorandum of Understanding signed with the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority (SDAIA) in August 2022, which aims to maximize the use of technologies, data analytics and artificial intelligence, and activate the concept of Smart Cities in order to enhance the Kingdom's leadership in this field; to reach the common strategic objectives of raising the level of municipal and residential service delivery and achieving urban sustainability in various regions of the Kingdom.
