His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh Region, today, the inauguration ceremony for the Al-Yamamah Cement Company"s new plant, in the presence of His Excellency the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources, Mr. Bandar bin Ibrahim Al-Khuraif.
Upon His Highness’s arrival at the new plant, he was received by His Highness Prince Nayef bin Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud, Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Al-Yamamah Cement Company, and a number of board members.
Inauguration of Al-Yamamah Cement Plant
His Highness the Governor of Riyadh Region emphasized that the inauguration of Al-Yamamah Cement Company’s new plant is the result of the boundless attention of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince —may God preserve them—in supporting industry and strengthening the local economy, while praising the wise leadership’s commitment to developing and supporting development projects and enhancing the role of the private sector.
He said: "This site was carefully selected through cooperation between the Emirate of Riyadh and the relevant authorities, and it was completed with new and distinctive features," noting the role and efforts of His Highness Prince Sultan bin Mohammed bin Saud Al-Kabeer, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Yamama Cement Company, in the construction of this plant, and commending the efforts made by the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources in preparing, equipping, and facilitating work on this plant.
Prince Faisal bin Bandar expressed his delight at sponsoring and supporting such projects in the Riyadh region, asking Almighty God to preserve this country’s security, stability, and development under its wise leadership.
The ceremony organized for this occasion began with a recitation from the Holy Quran, after which His Highness Prince Nayef bin Sultan bin Mohammed delivered a speech in which he thanked the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince —may Allah preserve them both—for their continued support of the Kingdom’s industrial development, and commended His Highness the Governor of Riyadh for his patronage of the inauguration ceremony for the company’s new plant and his ongoing follow-up on development projects in the region.
National Industrial Strategy
He noted that the plant represents one of the Kingdom’s major national projects, aligning with the launch of the National Industrial Strategy to contribute to GDP growth and support the national economy in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030.
His Highness, the Vice Chairman of the company’s Board of Directors, emphasized that Al-Yamamah Cement Company is off to a strong start with its new plant, which will contribute to achieving the Vision’s goals, noting the company’s business expansion and increased production lines, as well as its commitment to empowering women, training and qualifying young people, and increasing the Saudization rate, which has reached over 75 percent, as well as the company’s ongoing efforts to support the Ministry of Housing’s initiatives in line with the Vision 2030 goals, alongside its support for major projects currently underway across the Kingdom.
Following this, the Minister of Industry and Mineral Resources delivered a speech in which he expressed his appreciation for the patronage and support of His Highness the Governor of the Riyadh Region for the ceremony, emphasizing that the inauguration of Yamama Cement Company’s new plant aims to keep pace with the developments and aspirations shaping the Kingdom’s industrial sector, under the patronage and continuous support of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Royal Highness the Crown Prince, may God protect them.
He praised the company’s commitment to technology, environmental sustainability, and the quality and diversity of its cement products, noting that the company owns one of the best and most modern cement plants in the region.
He said: “Al-Yamamah Cement Plant is one of the pioneering plants that joined the ‘Factories of the Future’ program to transform 4,000 factories in the Kingdom into operationally and technically advanced facilities that adopt global best practices in the fields of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.”
Following this, His Highness the Governor of the Riyadh Region and the attendees watched a visual presentation about the new plant, after which His Highness inaugurated the plant, marking the start of operations.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, His Highness toured the plant to inspect the latest technologies and production lines in use.
It is worth noting that the plant is one of the most advanced cement plants in the region in terms of technology, environmental sustainability, and the quality and diversity of its cement products, with a total area of approximately 8 square kilometers and an investment value of about 6 billion riyals to meet the needs of the Kingdom’s ongoing urban development, Upon its relaunch, the plant will produce 30,000 metric tons of clinker per day, using the latest technologies in accordance with the highest standards and a commitment to environmental conservation.
