Talib Abdullah Al-Ahmari, a member of the Real Estate Committee at the Jeddah Chamber of Commerce, called for the establishment of an appropriate framework and a review of the commission rates currently applied to real estate sales and leasing transactions, in order to revive the market from its current stagnation. Al-Ahmari also noted the need for real estate agencies to regulate their operations, particularly since they are obligated to pay expenses and fees to various authorities.
Regarding rising real estate prices that have exceeded the means of low- and middle-income earners, Al-Ahmari noted that there are several measures that could stimulate the real estate market, foremost among them the government’s decision to impose fees on undeveloped land, which, if implemented, will undoubtedly affect the prices of undeveloped land, particularly in the suburbs. However, additional measures are needed to ensure prices remain affordable, benefiting both citizens and investors alike.
