In its response to statements made by the official spokesperson for the National Anti-Corruption Commission to certain newspapers, the Ministry of Transportation clarified that the Commission had identified a number of violations in the implementation of the Dammam/ Jubail Expressway, based on a report filed by a citizen, noting that it had identified these issues during its monitoring of the project. In more detail, the Ministry of Transportation’s official spokesperson, Engineer Hazloul bin Hussein Al-Hazloul, explained that while monitoring the implementation of the Dammam/ Jubail Expressway, identified issues with certain aspects of the implementation work. Some of these issues were mentioned in a letter from the Chairman of the National Anti-Corruption Commission sent to the Ministry on 10/13/ 1436 AH. The Ministry is working to address these observations and will respond to the Commission in accordance with standard procedures for such cases. Al-Hathloul added that all of the Ministry’s projects are accepted only after being inspected by a specialized committee from the Ministry, which examines all components of the project and ensures their compliance with the Ministry’s technical specifications. In the event of any observations, they are rectified at the contractor’s expense without anycost to the Ministry.

Meanwhile, Minister of Transportation Engineer Abdullah bin Abdulrahman Al-Mubarak issued a decision to withdraw the two projects related to the Dammam Ring Road from the contractor due to delays. The two projects are the extension of the Riyadh–Dammam Expressway, including interchanges, with a length of 12 kilometers in the Eastern Province, and the project for main and secondary roads in the Eastern Province (Group 1). The Ministry clarified that it had given the contractor more than one opportunity to make changes and improvements, issued him more than one warning, and obtained the necessary commitments from him to execute the project in accordance with the contract signed with him, However, work was proceeding very slowly despite the completion of some sections of the Riyadh–Dammam Expressway.
