During the first half of this calendar year, the committees of the Al-Ahsa Municipality’s Reconstruction Agency completed their work on 71 requests through the Committee for the Assessment of Regulatory and Planning Surplus, and reclaimed 34 sites covering an area of 335,000 square meters through the Committee for the Removal of Encroachments on Government Land, while the Planning and Major Projects Committee approved 43 recommendations.
The Deputy Director of Al-Ahsa Municipality for Reconstruction, Engineer Hisham Al-Marjan, explained that these measures were taken to expropriate properties that obstructed road development and efficiency improvement projects for four initiatives, including: the King Abdullah Road “Western Flank” tunnel connecting to Riyadh Road; the completion of the King Abdullah Road extension “Northern Flank” to the cities of Al-Hofuf and Al-Mubarraz; the completion of the continuity of the Prince Saud bin Jalawi Road project with Prince Muhammad bin Fahd Road “Phase 2”; and the implementation and disbursement of compensation for the Historic Downtown Al-Hofuf project.
He noted that during the same period, the Municipality issued 577 permits for the construction of residential projects, and 68 commercial licenses, processed 935 requests for land consolidation and subdivision, allocated approximately 50 plots of varying sizes to government sectors, and issued surveying decisions for requests to ”amend/ updating” data for 1,472 deeds, and approved 6 plans covering ”195 residential plots, 23 service facilities, and 17 commercial plots,” It also provided municipal services to 873 clients of the agency and completed procedures to allocate investment opportunities covering 10 land parcels with a total area of 75,430 square meters.
Engineer Al-Marjan emphasized that these efforts are in line with the visions and aspirations of the Al-Ahsa Municipality, as well as the National Transformation Program aimed at achieving the Kingdom’s Vision 2030, and to provide advanced municipal services with the unlimited support of the wise leadership for all sectors—including the municipal sector—in order to achieve service targets and strengthen the Quality of Life Program.
