The Minister of Commerce and Industry, Dr. Tawfiq bin Fawzan Al-Rabiah, recently held an extensive meeting with the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Dr. Jamil Al-Baqawi, in the presence of board members, during which he discussed a number of topics of interest to the engineering sector and engineers in the Kingdom.The most prominent of these were the engineering workforce, the classification of engineering firms, the percentage of Saudization in engineering firms, as well as permanent solutions for temporary engineering licenses.
For his part, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Authority expressed his thanks and appreciation to His Excellency the Minister for his efforts and support for the Authority, the engineering sector, and Saudi engineers, noting the discussion on implementing professional qualification requirements for Saudi engineers through the establishment of legislation and mechanisms that support the Authority’s efforts in this regard.
The meeting included a discussion on developing a future vision for the role of the Saudi Council of Engineers, in terms of its role in advancing the engineering profession across its various branches and regulating the practice of the profession in accordance with the Code of Professional Conduct, as well as the pivotal role of the Authority and Saudi engineers in the comprehensive economic, industrial, and urban renaissance in cooperation with the relevant government agencies, working to strengthen ties and deepen scientific and technical cooperation among engineers in the Kingdom, and encouraging engineering training and professional development, as well as formulating a vision that affirms commitment to the rules and ethics of the profession and their observance by engineers, engineering firms, and consulting companies
