Ministry of Transportation signs 25 contracts worth 830 million riyals for road projects and consulting works

The year 1436H/1437H witnessed an intensive movement in the Ministry of Transport to rehabilitate road infrastructure, as the Minister of Transport M. Abdullah Al-Muqbel signed 25 contracts to implement road projects, consultancy works and electrical works approved in the ministry's budget for this year in a number of regions of the Kingdom with a number of national companies and institutions, with a total amount of more than (830) million riyals.

The projects are as follows, according to the regions:

Makkah region

<Implementation of Umm Al-Ghairan road with a length of (25) km, Jalil Marakh road with a length of (10) km, maintenance of electrical works for roads in Taif region (2015/2018), study and design project of Taif ring road with service road, expansion of Huda/Taif road and an intersection for UQU to serve the female student branch 45, and implementation of short roads (Group 7), including: Completion of Al-Shaira / Al-Shatfa road (4 km), completion of Baydan road (3 km), and completion of Al-Khasha road (3 km).

Riyadh Region

A project to implement the completion of service roads for the suspension bridge, and a project to implement the completion of roads: Al-Barzah Al-Humayat, Jaham Kabsha, Anizan, Al-Nabwan Al-Rafiah, Badida Hadijah 62, the technical support project to review road studies and designs, the project to supervise the second ring road of Riyadh (Phase I), the project to study and design the roads and intersections of the Riyadh region and the doubling of Lubkha Hawitah Qurna Road and Salem bin Maqal intersection to serve King Saud University, The project to complete the supervision of the remaining works to complete some main and secondary roads, the project to complete the Ministry's documentary content works (Phase III), the project to identify areas of sand encroachment on highways and cities and solutions to reduce them, and the project to study and update the bases for receiving projects and quality control procedures.

Eastern Province

The project to complete the repair and expansion of the Dammam-Jubail Highway to four lanes in each direction (Phase III), a bridge project for Batha Sheiba Umm Al-Zamul road parallel to the bridge that was built on the existing Aramco road (intersection), the project to complete the Al-Saddawi intersection, and the completion and repair of Abraq Al-Sulfur road.

Study, design and dualization of Al-Hudayyah Center Road and Buraydah inner city road (intersections and service roads.)

Tabuk Region

Study and design of roads linking coastal development cities (study and design of some roads in Tabuk region (second group).

Northern Border Region

Road completions project: Rawdat Habbas, Athfa, agricultural schemes roads.

Najran Region

The project to complete the doubling of the Najran Shroura Al Wadiah road, and the project to open, pave and maintain dirt roads in Najran region.

Jouf Region

Implementation of the completion of linking Asfan with the axial road, a surface intersection on Bisatat/Tabarjal road, an intersection on the South Tabarjal regional road, the implementation of the completion of concrete protections and ferries for some roads, the project of supervising the completion of the South Tabarjal regional road (intersection) and the completions of some roads, and the project of supervising the implementation of the ring road around Sakaka and Duma Al-Jandal (Phase II) and the completions of some roads.

Minister Al-Jawf explained. The Minister explained that these projects are part of the projects that were approved in the Ministry's budget for this year, which were launched immediately after the budget was issued, in line with the Ministry's practice of launching approved projects for competition and implementation in the same year in which they are approved, and the contracts for the rest of the projects approved for this year will be signed successively, God willing.
