540 municipal facilities—including public parks, playgrounds, and walking trails—in the Jazan region have helped attract visitors and recreational users from both within and outside the region; to spend leisure time and enjoy their public facilities, fitness trails, and green spaces, as these facilities provide playgrounds for children, seating areas, and activities tailored to the needs of community members.
The parks, playgrounds, and walking trails in the city of Jizan and the region’s provinces and centers have boosted interest in recreation, leisure, and sports, thereby contributing to the achievement of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 goals. The Jazan Regional Municipality has developed 235 public parks, 115 walking trails, and 190 playgrounds as part of the Quality of Life Program.
The Municipality explained that projects to build recreational parks, walking trails, and sports fields are the primary focus of its efforts to revitalize tourism, given their high-quality specifications and facilities, with the new projects focusing on the development of recreational parks, given the continuous annual growth in the recreational park sector, by hosting events and festivals in these public parks to create a fun atmosphere for visitors. The Secretariat emphasized that it is currently working to improve existing municipal facilities and build more through the “Bahja” initiative to enhance quality of life.
