The governments of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and the State of Kuwait announced that the joint Al-Wafra operations have succeeded—by the grace of God—in discovering a new oil reservoir in the (North Al-Wafra-Wara – Burgan) field, located 5 km north of the Al-Wafra field, where oil flowed from the Wara reservoir in the North Wafra (Wara-Burgan-1) well at a rate exceeding 500 barrels per day with a specific gravity of 26–27 API.
This is the first discovery since production resumed in the Partitioned Zone and the submerged area adjacent to the Partitioned Zone in mid-2020, and is of great significance given its positive impact on the two countries’ standing and reliability in supplying the world with energy, as well as their capabilities in the exploration and production sector.
