Orak Factory began producing precast concrete roof panels at its plant in Al-Sali, Riyadh, at the beginning of 1436 AH, as part of the company’s strategic plan to build a network of automated factories for the production of precast concrete building components(walls, stairs, tanks, arches, bridges, etc.) to meet the growing demand for housing in the Kingdom, as well as to reduce costs and speed up construction while maintaining quality and durability.
Automated Product Control
The plant produces Holocor concrete roof panels with a width of 600 mm and thicknesses of 150 mm (250 kg/m²) and 210 mm (290 kg/m²) and in lengths up to 8 m.
They are characterized by high durability, as the concrete compaction in the molds is controlled to ensure uniform density using special, automatically controlled vibrators, and controlling the degree of compaction prevents particle segregation and voids, resulting in a high degree of durability and strength.
Furthermore, the mix proportions are automatically adjusted according to changes in temperature and humidity, both of which significantly affect concrete quality. The strength of Helocor roofs is higher, ranging from 400 to 500 kg per square meter.
Advantages of precast concrete roofs
• Cost-effective due to their lower cost compared to traditional concrete roofs.
• Easy to transport and install using a truck equipped with a standard crane
• The concrete slabs are transported using conventional trucks equipped with a crane or, for large projects, using regular trucks and a separate crane. On-site, workers install the slabs on the beams, spacing them 10 cm apart from each beam, and so on until all panels are placed in the required area.
• Keeps the site clean; there is no debris after installation, and it facilitates safe and quick movement within the site
• Retains air-conditioned cool air inside the residence and vice versa in winter, thereby saving on electricity consumption.
• Significantly reduces sound transmission between floors due to the cylindrical voids in Holocore ceilings, which prevent sound waves from traveling between floors, thereby maintaining quiet inside the home.
