<The Higher Authority for the Settlement of Labor Disputes in Riyadh held the first official session via »remote digital communication devices» for a labor case between the Higher Authority in Riyadh and the Primary Authority in Arar. This step comes for the first time at the level of judicial authorities in the Kingdom, to facilitate litigants and end their labor disputes by taking advantage of technical means that save effort and time for litigants in remote areas.
Dr. Abdullah bin Saleh Al-Abdullatif, General Supervisor of the General Administration of Labor Dispute Resolution Bodies, explained that the General Administration of Labor Dispute Resolution Bodies has been working on this unique project for a whole year to complete it, in order to achieve the required purpose, during which time the legal controls were established and guides were issued containing the procedures and requirements for holding such sessions, and securing the necessary equipment for this purpose.
Al-Abdullatif emphasized that these efforts aim to facilitate litigants, to spare them the hardships of traveling to attend hearings from remote areas, pointing out that this measure falls under the system of a number of ambitious projects that the Ministry is working to implement to contribute to reducing burdens on its customers and delivering services provided to them in their places using modern technology: «Work is currently underway to generalize this technology to all first instance bodies and amicable settlement departments in the Kingdom.»
