Saudi-Jordanian agreement to establish Saudi-Jordanian Holding Company and study border trade obstacles

The Saudi and Jordanian sides of the Saudi-Jordanian Business Council agreed at the end of their meetings in the Jordanian capital Amman to form a committee from both sides to study facilitating the establishment of joint economic and investment projects between private sector individuals and institutions in both countries, by studying the obstacles in the process of transportation and transit at border crossings facing both sides and tax and regulatory procedures.

The two sides also agreed to activate the prior agreement on the establishment of the Saudi-Jordanian Holding Company (SJHC). <During the meeting, which was chaired on the Saudi side by the Chairman of the Saudi-Jordanian Business Council, Mohammed Abdulaziz Al-Awda, and on the Jordanian side by the First Vice President of the Jordan Chamber of Commerce, Ghassan Kharfan, it was also agreed to activate the prior agreement on the establishment of the Saudi-Jordanian Holding Company, which emerged in previous meetings of the Joint Business Council, in addition to agreeing to facilitate the acceleration of procedures related to the movement of business owners in both countries, activating cooperation by participating in exhibitions and conferences held in Jordan and increasing cooperation and trade linkages through these conferences and exhibitions, in addition to the Jordanian businessmen in both countries. <The meeting emphasized the need to hold economic conferences and workshops between the two countries aimed at introducing the investment opportunities and incentives available in the two countries. He also noted the need to activate the technical cooperation program between the Saudi Standards, Metrology and Quality Organization and the Jordanian Standards and Metrology Organization, in order to achieve integration in the fields of standards, production quality and measurement and serve the interest of both parties and the accreditation of certificates of analysis issued by accredited laboratories in both countries.
