His Excellency Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipalities and Housing, concluded his two-day visit to the Jeddah Governorate, which included field visits and official and community meetings, as part of his direct oversight of the municipality’s performance and service levels, and to review the progress of major development projects .

His Excellency began the visit with a tour of the Metals and Scrap City, where he reviewed the project, which serves as an integrated model for organizing economic activities and relocating them to designated sites outside the urban area, The first phase has been fully operationalized with an investment of 650 million riyals, allocated to infrastructure development, including surrounding roads, internal streets, and the power plant, with 100% of the space leased—an indicator reflecting the project’s viability and its success in reorganizing activities according to modern standards that enhance efficiency and regulatory and environmental compliance.

His Excellency launched the implementation of municipal service projects for the first phase in Jeddah Province, which includes the Construction City, the Automotive City, the Warehousing City, the Rocket Market, and the Truck Parking City. These efforts are part of a broader initiative to organize economic activities and develop integrated work environments that support growth and sustainability, covering an area of approximately 20 million square meters, with an investment of nearly 5 billion riyals in partnership with the private sector.

At the conclusion of the first day, His Excellency met with members of the Board of Directors of the Jeddah Development Company and Urban Development—the investment arm of the Jeddah Municipality—as well as the CEO and partners. The company manages 35 projects and contracts across eight strategic sectors, with investments totaling nearly 8 billion riyals, and oversees the development of assets covering an area exceeding 31 million square meters, thereby contributing to maximizing the utilization of municipal assets and enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of their management. The digital transformation entities “Omran Tech” and ”Amana Tech” to improve operational efficiency and strengthen governance, in addition to the implementation of more than 38,000 parking spaces under a public-private partnership model, in support of traffic management and the improvement of the urban landscape.

On the second day, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing met with His Excellency the Mayor of Jeddah, Mr. Saleh bin Ali Al-Turki, and senior officials of the Municipality; he was briefed on the “City View” digital platform—one of the tools for decision support, project monitoring, and performance measurement— and was presented with an overview of the municipality’s most notable achievements, as well as completed and ongoing projects, with a total cost of 6.4 billion riyals.

The visit included a tour of several projects, among them the rainwater drainage project in the Taybah neighborhood, which has a cost of 362 million riyals and a completion rate of 96%, as well as the “Alma” destination project, which spans over 3 million square meters and comprises seven zones and two water islands connected by bridges, along with a 12-kilometer-long waterfront. where His Excellency reviewed the project’s completion rates, components, and the integrated urban environment it provides, which supports quality of life and a diversity of residential and investment options.

At the conclusion of the visit, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing affirmed that the Jeddah Governorate continues to make progress toward balanced development centered on service efficiency, maximizing the use of assets, and stimulating investment. He noted the municipal sector’s role in creating a supportive environment for tourism, given the diversity of seasons the province hosts; in the summer through the Jeddah Season, and in the winter through the Red Sea Film Festival, the Formula 1 race, the Formula E race, the E1 electric boat race, and the F1H2O speedboat race, in addition to spring entertainment events, thereby reinforcing Jeddah’s position as a year-round tourism and economic destination.

This visit is part of the ongoing field monitoring of urban development projects, strengthening effective partnerships with the private sector, and enabling municipal authorities to perform their roles with high efficiency—all in line with the objectives of the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and to enhance the competitiveness of Saudi cities and the quality of life within them.
