Construction and improvement of more than one million square meters of roads in the Holy Capital in 2025

The projects included new asphalting, rehabilitating roads and sidewalks, planting 376,000 trees, and improving digital services and communications

<The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing, represented by the Municipality of the Holy Capital, has intensified its development work during 2025 to improve the urban landscape and raise the efficiency of infrastructure, as it completed the rehabilitation and humanization of more than one million square meters of roads as part of comprehensive efforts aimed at enhancing traffic safety and improving the quality of life in the Holy Capital.<The projects included the implementation of more than 70 thousand linear meters of new asphalt, in addition to rehabilitating existing roads, improving sidewalks and pedestrian walkways, and addressing elements of visual distortion; in order to enhance the flow of movement and improve the public appearance, the Municipality also managed to recover lands worth more than 10 billion riyals, within the framework of protecting public property and addressing encroachments according to the regulations.

In the aspect of environmental sustainability, the Municipality planted more than 376 thousand trees in support of increasing vegetation cover and improving air quality and urban landscape, which contributed to reducing the percentage of visual deformation associated with waste in priority areas by 71%, in addition to reducing the percentage of visual deformation in priority areas by 55%, as a result of intensifying field campaigns, cleaning works and control treatments.<In terms of municipal services, the Municipality continued to develop the digital services system and raise the efficiency of performance, providing more than 340 municipal services through the “Baladi” platform and available channels, which enhances the ease of access to services and speeds up the completion of transactions. The customer satisfaction rate for closed communications reached 88%, while the percentage of completed communications reached 95%, reflecting the efficiency of the communications system and the speed of response. The Municipality achieved 100% in local content and government procurement targets, and recorded an improvement in the processing time of objections to violations by 85%.

These achievements fall within an integrated system of municipal initiatives aimed at enhancing the efficiency of services and creating an organized and safe urban environment that matches the status of Makkah and contributes to improving the experience of residents and visitors.

His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al Haqeel, inspected the day before yesterday in Makkah the preparations of the Municipality of the Holy Capital and reviewed its efforts in serving the pilgrims and following up the progress of projects on the field, which contributes to enhancing the levels of readiness and raising the efficiency of services, especially during the holy month of Ramadan.
