Construction and improvement of more than one million square meters of roads in the Holy Capital in 2025

The Ministry of Municipalities and Housing , represented by the Secretariat of the Holy Capital, intensified its development efforts during the year 2025 AH; to improve the urban landscape and enhance infrastructure efficiency. It completed the rehabilitation and improvement of more than one million square meters of roads as part of comprehensive efforts aimed at enhancing traffic safety and improving the quality of life in the Holy Capital.

The projects included the laying of more than 70,000 linear meters of new asphalt, in addition to the rehabilitation of existing roads , improving sidewalks and pedestrian walkways, and addressing visual disturbances; thereby contributing to smoother traffic flow and an improved overall appearance, The Municipality also recovered land valued at over 10 billion riyals as part of its efforts to protect public property and address encroachments in accordance with regulations.

In terms of environmental sustainability, the Municipality planted more than 376,000 trees; to increase vegetation cover and improve air quality and the urban landscape; this has helped reduce waste-related visual disturbances in priority areas by 71%, in addition to reducing visual pollution in priority areas by 55%, as a result of intensified field campaigns, cleanup efforts, and regulatory enforcement.

In terms of municipal services, the Secretariat continued to develop its digital services system and improve operational efficiency; it provided more than 340 municipal services through the “Baladi” platform and other available channels, thereby enhancing access to services and expediting the completion of transactions. The beneficiary satisfaction rate for closed reports reached 88%, while the completion rate for reports stood at 95%, reflecting the efficiency of the reporting system and the speed of response. The Secretariat also achieved a 100% rate in meeting its targets for local content and government procurement, and recorded an 85% improvement in the time taken to process objections to violations.

These achievements are part of an integrated system of municipal initiatives aimed at enhancing service efficiency and creating an organized and safe urban environment befitting the status of Makkah, thereby contributing to an improved experience for residents and visitors.

The day before yesterday in Makkah, His Excellency the Minister of Municipalities and Housing, Mr. Majid bin Abdullah Al-Hogail, inspected the preparations of the Holy Capital Municipality, and reviewed its efforts to serve the guests of the Most Merciful and monitor the progress of projects on the ground; this contributes to enhancing readiness levels and improving service efficiency, particularly during the blessed month of Ramadan.
