The Eastern Province Municipality has started implementing the fourth phase of the Saudi Architecture Initiative, which is one of the ambitious national initiatives, in a move that aims to highlight the architectural diversity in the Kingdom, and promote the urban identity derived from the local environment, in line with the objectives of the Kingdom's Vision 2030 in developing more quality and sustainable cities.
The Municipality explained that this phase includes the application of design guidelines for both the Ahsa Oasis Architecture and the Eastern Najdi Architecture, stressing that all residential applications submitted through the “Baladi” platform will be subject to the approved design guidelines within the initiative, which contributes to improving the quality of design outputs and achieving urban integration that reflects the cultural and historical specificity of the region.<The Saudi Architecture studio at the Eastern Province Municipality is the only entity authorized by the Ministry of Municipalities and Housing to follow up on the compliance of applications with these guidelines and complete the procedures for issuing licenses according to the approved regulatory controls. The activation of this phase comes as an extension of the initiative's efforts to consolidate the features of Saudi architecture and promote integration between the relevant authorities, engineering offices and municipalities; in support of improving the urban landscape and raising the quality of urban development in the Eastern Province.
The initiative seeks, through its multiple stages, to unify design visions, reduce architectural randomness and develop an urban environment that reflects the Kingdom's identity and cultural diversity, enhancing the quality of life for residents and consolidating the status of Saudi cities at the regional and international levels.
