the Riyadh Region Infrastructure Projects Center that mandatory technical certification for contractors working on infrastructure projects, with 180 days remaining until the requirement takes effect on January 1, 2027, as only entities that have obtained technical accreditation from the Center will be permitted to carry out infrastructure projects in the Riyadh Region.
This measure is part of the Center’s efforts to develop the infrastructure project implementation system, improve the sector’s efficiency, and strengthen compliance with quality, safety, and environmental standards, thereby contributing to improved implementation quality, minimizing operational risks, and ensuring the sustainability of assets and services provided to the region’s residents.
Enhancing the Implementation of Infrastructure Projects
The Center explained that technical accreditation aims to enhance the reliability of infrastructure project implementation by applying uniform standards to assess the capabilities of implementing entities, thereby ensuring that their technical and operational capabilities align with the nature and scale of the projects and that they meet the minimum requirements for competence, technical expertise, and financial solvency necessary to carry out the work in accordance with approved standards.
The Center noted that the technical accreditation assessment is based on three main pillars: technical and operational capabilities (55%), financial stability (25%), and professional experience (20%), ensuring an objective assessment that reflects the readiness and competence of implementing entities to execute infrastructure projects in accordance with best practices.
The Center emphasized that technical accreditation represents a significant step toward enhancing the efficiency of the infrastructure project implementation sector by empowering qualified entities and improving the quality of implementation, thereby contributing to risk reduction, increasing compliance with technical standards, supports infrastructure development goals, and improves the quality of life in the region.
