The Al-Khobar Municipality has stepped up its field inspections of construction sites in the South Al-Raka neighborhood. Its inspection campaigns have identified more than 50 violations at a number of buildings under construction, as part of its efforts to enforce compliance with municipal regulations and improve the quality of project execution.
Faisal Al-Zahrani, the official spokesperson for the Eastern Province Municipality, explained that the inspections are part of the Building and Facility Oversight Project, which aims to continuously monitor construction sites, and ensure compliance with municipal requirements, thereby contributing to improving project quality and curbing practices that negatively impact the urban landscape. He noted that the most prominent violations detected included the failure to enclose construction sites with proper fencing, the use of public roads and open spaces to store construction materials, as well as violations related to non-compliance with building codes during the construction phases.
Continued Monitoring of Construction Sites
Al-Zahrani confirmed that inspection teams will continue to monitor construction sites throughout the province, while overseeing the performance of contractors and ensuring their compliance with approved regulations and instructions, which will improve project quality and reduce visual disturbances.
He added that the municipality will require violators to remove unauthorized additions and rectify their situations, while issuing the necessary warnings and imposing the penalties stipulated in the regulations against non-compliant buildings.
The Al-Khobar Municipality called on building owners and contractors to adhere to building permits and regulatory requirements throughout all stages of construction, and not to use public roads or facilities for construction work or material storage, affirming that it will continue its daily inspection rounds to ensure that violations are addressed and to improve the quality of the urban environment and municipal services.
