The Asir Region Secretariat, represented by the Projects and Infrastructure Agency, continues to implement the project to improve the Al-Mahala and Prince Sultan roads in the city of Abha, by planting more than 1,400 poinsettia and jacaranda trees, as part of its efforts to enhance tourist attractions, enhance the urban landscape, and create more beautiful and sustainable urban environments; thereby enriching the visitor experience, improving the quality of life for residents, and keeping pace with Abha’s growing status as one of the Kingdom’s leading tourist destinations.

The Municipality explained that the project aims to develop public spaces and transform them into attractive and safe urban environments by increasing vegetation cover, improving air quality, providing shade, and enhancing the aesthetic appeal along both roads—thereby strengthening the city’s visual identity and contributing to a better mobility and recreational experience for residents and visitors.
It noted that the project includes the construction of a dedicated bicycle path on Al-Mahala Road to support sustainable modes of transportation, and to encourage physical activity by providing a safe route that meets the needs of the area’s residents and visitors and enhances the quality of the city’s recreational and service facilities.

The Asir Region Municipality confirmed that the Humanization of Al-Mahala and Prince Sultan Roads is part of a package of development projects being implemented in the region’s cities and governorates; with the aim of enhancing the urban landscape, improve infrastructure efficiency, and provide more sustainable and attractive urban environments, in line with the objectives of Saudi Vision 2030 to improve quality of life and support tourism development, and strengthening the Asir region’s position as a leading year-round tourist destination.
