The Heritage Authority announced the registration of (9,586) architectural heritage assets in the National Register of Architectural Heritage in two consecutive phases. The first phase involved the registration of (3,000) assets, followed by the registration of an additional (6,586) assets, bringing the total number of registered assets across the Kingdom’s various regions to (59,586), as part of the Authority’s ongoing efforts to inventory architectural heritage and to document, classify, and enhance their protection and preservation.
The assets registered during these two phases were distributed across several regions of the Kingdom, with (169) assets in the Riyadh region, (1,755) assets in the Makkah region, (23) sites in the Madinah region, (13) sites in the Al-Qassim region, (19) sites in the Eastern Province, (4,363) sites in the Asir region, two in the Tabuk region, 21 in the Hail region, one in the Northern Border region, 673 in the Najran region, and 2,547 in the Al-Baha region.

The Commission emphasized that the registration of of urban heritage and the continuous updating of the National Registry’s data contribute to providing legal protection for registered assets, organizing efforts to preserve, rehabilitate, and reuse them, support the integration of its data with urban planning and development efforts, and enhance the accuracy, efficiency, and reliability of the National Register, in addition to expanding the scope of utilizing these assets in cultural, tourism, and sustainable development programs and projects.

The Heritage Authority called on citizens and residents to report unregistered urban heritage assets, or any practices that may compromise their safety, through the “Archaeological Report” service, through the Authority’s official social media channels, by visiting one of its branches or offices across the Kingdom, or by calling the Unified Security Operations Center (911), emphasizing the importance of community partnership in discovering, protecting, preserving, and safeguarding national heritage for future generations.
