At the Saudi Hotel Supplies Exhibition in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, held from May 17 to 19, 2016, and as part of the Vision Conference in Saudi Arabia, a paper titled “Mega Projects – An Inside Look,” presented by Ramzi Salh, Chief Executive Officer of Business Development at King Abdullah Economic City, who is the latest speaker to join the second annual Vision Conference.
Ramzi Salh will provide a behind-the-scenes look at the development of King Abdullah Economic City, which is considered the world’s largest privately funded city, Saleh noted that King Abdullah Economic City’s tourism strategy aims to strengthen the city’s position as Saudi Arabia’s leading all-purpose, must-visit tourist destination, thereby providing growth opportunities for the hospitality, entertainment, and tourism sectors as a whole in the country. The city is an emerging entertainment and residential destination on the west coast, as well as a regional hub for logistics and manufacturing. The city is located 100 kilometers north of Jeddah, and a total of $100 billion in investments is planned for the project. Upon its completion in 2035, the city will have a residential capacity of 2 million people.
King Abdullah Economic City is expected to attract more than 3 million tourists annually by 2025. The city is already a popular local weekend getaway, having welcomed more than 100,000 visitors in 2015. It currently has 38 tourism and entertainment projects under development, including hotels, resorts, and family entertainment attractions.
