King Abdulaziz Airport to open a hotel with Ascott International at the end of Dhu al-Hijjah

With an area of 4,500 square meters, it features 110 rooms, including both standard rooms and suites, as well as a gym, meeting rooms, and restaurants. the General Authority of Civil Aviation signed a contract yesterday, Tuesday, with Ascott International Limited to lease and operate a new hotel at King Abdulaziz International Airport in Jeddah, with the hotel set to open in the month of Dhu al-Hijjah this year.

On this occasion, Sakhr Al-Melhem, Director General of Commercial Development and Properties at the Authority, explained that the signing of the contract is in line with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 and falls within the framework of the Authority’s ambitious plan, which places passenger service at the forefront of its priorities, and aims to enhance, improve, and elevate the quality of services at airports to achieve a qualitative leap and provide passengers with exceptional services that fulfill the ambitions and aspirations of the wise leadership.

Al-Melhem noted that, in line with its commitment to job localization, the Authority has included a clause in the contract that gives priority in hotel hiring to Saudis, in order to provide outstanding employment opportunities for citizens who have proven their worth in the hospitality sector andpossess extensive experience and high qualifications.

He explained that, in addition to the financial returns the Authority will realize from signing the contract, the presence of the globally renowned Ascott Hotel at the airport is considered an added value and reflects the Authority’s commitment to attracting the best international companies to serve travelers.

The contract was signed on behalf of the Authority by Sakhr Al-Melhem, and on behalf of the company by Essam Abdulmajeed Al-Tayyar, Managing Director and CEO of Al-Atyaf, Ascott’s agent in the Kingdom.

It is worth noting that Ascott Limited is one of the world’s largest owners and operators of serviced apartment units, a recipient of several awards in the hospitality sector, and operator of numerous hotel units in various cities across the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
