The General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in Makkah confirmed the growth in the volume of expected investments in the accommodation sector, and the Director General of the General Authority for Tourism and National Heritage in Makkah, Mohammed bin Abdullah Al Omari, explained that there are 11 projects for international investments in the accommodation sectors that will pump more than 2800 new hotel rooms.

On the economics of tourism, Al-Omari predicted that the expenditures of the tourism sector in the Kingdom in general during the current year 2016 will reach 144.3 billion riyals for local and expatriate tourists, while 86.4 billion riyals are expected for outbound tourism.

Al Omari emphasized that the tourism sector in the Kingdom is the second largest sector to which the eyes of observers are directed in all visions and strategies to create economic sectors away from the dominant oil resource for long periods, pointing out that the lion's share of the expected spending for expatriate and local tourists will be Jeddah by (11 %)

He pointed out that the figures and statistics indicate an optimistic future for the local tourism industry, especially related to the city of Jeddah, as the actual figures for 2015 for the city of Jeddah show that there is a growth in domestic tourist trips to it by (21 %) compared to 2014, and Jeddah accounts for (29 %) of the total number of domestic tourist trips to the Makkah region.
