The United Arab Emirates topped the “Overview of Hotel Construction in the Middle East and Africa” report published by Top Hotel Projects, with approximately 59 hotel projects (20 % of the development projects mentioned), followed by Saudi Arabia with 51 projects under construction.

Meanwhile, Turkey has 28 projects underway, Qatar has 18, and Morocco has 17 hotel projects, all of which are scheduled for completion in 2017 as well. Among the hotels expected to be completed in 2017, according to the report, are the "ME Dubai" hotel in Dubai,  the Kadi Towers project in Mecca—which will become the world’s largest hotel with 10,000 rooms—and the Adris Emaar Square Hotel in Istanbul.
