After being lost for more than 15 years, the Jeddah First Notary Office has re-registered a lost legal deed for a development project in North Abhur, Jeddah Province, owned by 500 shareholders and with an estimated market value of more than 500 million riyals.

Sources explained that the disappearance of the development’s legal deed dates back more than 15 years, when correspondence took place between government agencies following several complaints filed by the development’s shareholders.

They added that the problem originally stemmed from the damage to the legal deed registry, which led to the suspension of the sale following the development overseen by the Jeddah Municipality, as the land had been originally zoned and approved prior to the purchase, noting that the Jeddah Municipality and the Jeddah Notary Office found that the plot was duplicated with a second parcel of land.

Sources indicated that the case remains pending despite the resolution of the issue with the deed’s registry regarding proof of ownership of the plot, as other problems have caused a delay in restoring the rights of the plot’s shareholders, and the Ministry of Commerce has referred the case to the Real Estate Contributions Committee for verification.
