The Ministry of Housing, through the “Wafi” off-plan sales and leasing program, set April 2, 2017, as the deadline for engineering firms working on the program’s projects to complete the necessary procedures. In a statement, the Ministry noted that 22 consulting firms have applied for certification so far.

The Ministry has set conditions for qualification, including passing the course designed for consultants working on off-plan sale and lease projects, and that 10% of the consulting firm’s engineers—or at least four of them—be qualified by attending the training course and completing the qualification form on the Ministry of Housing’s website, in addition to granting consulting firms a two-month period to rectify their status, starting February 2, 2017, through April 2, 2017.

The Ministry clarified that the qualification requirement for engineering consulting firms is one of the regulations pertaining to the sale or lease of off-plan real estate units, issued by a decision of the Committee “Off-Plan Sales and Leasing” to establish the mechanisms for the accreditation of engineering consulting firms.
