Unlicensed consulting offices offer their services to government agencies
Riyadh - Follow-ups

The Saudi Board of Engineers revealed the existence of offices specialized in engineering consultancy working in the local market without official authorization by the concerned authorities authorized to issue special permits for companies, and the detection of these companies came after some secretariats submitted letters inquiring about three companies that applied for supervision of some projects to come the response of the Commission that they do not hold any licenses that qualify them to obtain these projects.

The president of the Saudi Council of Engineers, Engineer Hamad Al-Shaqari, said: ”There are many of these companies that operate without a permit, as well as companies that apply to win projects for the state, which are irregular, pointing out that the practice of these companies must be eliminated and confronted, in addition to stopping temporary licenses that some companies use as a bridge to obtain some projects in the country.”

He added that the Authority's endeavor to accredit engineers in the professional form according to the conditions and controls of the Authority contributed to the exit of more than 30,000 engineers from the Saudi market during the past period, after the Authority discovered the falsity and irregularity of their certificates, pointing out that it is assumed that only engineers accredited by the Authority work in the market, and that the professional accreditation card is their identification card.

He stressed in a statement to the Saudi newspaper «Al-Youm» that none of the fake engineers or those with fake certificates can bypass the control of the Board of Engineers, especially after the linking process that took place with all companies, whether large or small, pointing out that they must pass through the Board of Engineers, which in turn confirms the certificates of all these people.
He added: »Awareness messages have been sent, not to deal with any engineer directly unless he shows his professional accreditation card from the Saudi Board of Engineers, with caution," pointing out that the Commission is considered a front valve for the engineering sector, and must be supported and developed, not eliminated, and this matter was achieved today by the Shura Council."
Earlier, the Director of Public Relations and Media at the Saudi Board of Engineers, Abdul Nasser Al-Abdul Latif, revealed that the number of engineers accredited by the Commission reached 134231 engineers, while the number of forged engineering certificates discovered during the past period reached more than 1300 forged certificates between Saudi and foreign engineers, indicating that the coming months will reveal many forged engineers due to the cooperation between the Commission and Passports through electronic linkage so that no engineer has the right to renew residence unless he obtains professional accreditation from the Saudi Board of Engineers as a responsible body for the accreditation of engineers in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
