Saudi Aramco grants Nomad a technical license for solar energy solutions, manufacturing and marketing

In the first commercial licensing agreement of its kind, Saudi Aramco has granted a technology license to Nomad Solar Solutions, a local startup funded by King Abdullah University of Science and Technology that manufactures and markets a mechanical device for cleaning solar panels without using water.

Under this agreement, Nomad will have the right to develop and manufacture the solar panel cleaning technology, which was successfully developed locally by the Saudi Aramco Research and Development team at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, This technology will be integrated with the automated dry cleaning system for solar panels.

It is worth noting that the agreement grants Nomad the right to distribute the solar panel cleaning technology in the Kingdom and will also work on its development, manufacturing, commercial promotion, and sale.

On this occasion, Saudi Aramco’s Vice President for Technical Supervision and Coordination, Ahmed Al-Khuaiter, said: “There is no doubt that bringing practical applications of technology that has a positive impact on the Kingdom to the market is a true achievement that demonstrates Saudi Aramco’s commitment to the future of clean energy.”

For his part, Jos van der Heijden, founder of Nomad, welcomed the partnership to bring this vision to fruition, ”Nomad has established a significant commercial presence in the solar energy sector and has won numerous awards in the field of solar energy technologies thanks to its leadership in this area.”
