<The Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz has approved the recommendations of the ministerial committee consisting of the Minister of Education, Minister of Higher Education, Minister of Finance and Minister of State and Cabinet Member Musaed Al-Aiban to study the provision of land for school building projects.
<The most prominent recommendations included the formation of a permanent committee between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Finance to follow up the provision and purchase of land and find solutions to the issues and obstacles that prevent this, determine the necessary costs for the sites required for expropriation, authorize it to develop and adopt an appropriate mechanism for procurement to achieve speed, ease, flexibility, transparency and justice, approve the purchase of buildings constructed by the private sector as school buildings in case the ministry needs them, lease buildings constructed by the private sector according to Ministry of Education specifications for long periods (up to 25 years) and add the Ministry of Education to the list.
<In addition to enabling the Ministry of Education to build on the educational facilities allocated to it in private plans whose owners are not known or whose owners refuse to sell them after estimating their value from the Estimates Committee. The royal approval included that the Ministry of Education coordinate with the municipality and municipalities to identify the sites required to establish schools in neighborhoods where there is no land or facilities that can be purchased and apply the expropriation system on them.
The Highness also approved the recommendation of the formed committee regarding the Makkah region, as it suffers the most, that the Municipality of the Holy Capital provide the required lands for educational facilities within the development projects in the city of Makkah after coordination with the Department of Education in the region.
The approved recommendations provide effective mechanisms to provide land for school building projects quickly and flexibly, leading to the elimination of rented or old schools, which will improve the school environment, improve educational outcomes, and reflect on making schools attractive environments.
After the honorable approval, the Municipality of the Holy Capital will provide the required land for educational facilities within the development projects in the city of Makkah after coordination with the Department of Education in the region.
Following the gracious approval of the recommendations of the formed ministerial committee, His Royal Highness Prince Khalid Al-Faisal directed the Minister of Education to work quickly to implement and apply what was approved and approved by the Royal Highness as soon as possible.
