The Mining Investment Opportunities Forum 2014, organized by the Medina Chamber of Commerce and Industry in cooperation with the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, achieved great success, as it included more than 15 specialized companies and more than 14 speakers, which aimed to highlight the potential of mining in the region, announce investment opportunities and partnership requirements, and announce a new phase for the development of the mining sector in the region, as Medina is one of the regions that abound in multiple mining materials, representing investment opportunities at the local, regional and global levels.
Participants in the 2014 Mining Investment Opportunities Forum emphasized that mining is considered the great window to the economic space and the way for the contribution of the financial sector in building a faster growing, more diversified economy and the ability to drive sustainable development in Medina.
In a speech during the forum, the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber, Dr. Mohammed Al-Khatrawi, explained that the forum is a step in the process of complementing the strategy of systematic and thoughtful disclosure of the resources and ores that the Medina region abounds with to enhance the efforts made to stimulate the economic movement.
He pointed out the importance of mining in the region, due to the availability of ores and infrastructure that allows for a thriving activity reflected in the establishment of important and successful mining industries such as the Mahd Gold Mine, noting that the success of the mining sector is based on several axes, including the availability of mineral ores and the success of their exploration and determining their presence, the availability of data and information to investors, transparency in regulations and laws, organizing and easy access to databases, and providing incentives and facilities.
A number of experts and specialists in mining and mining operations from inside and outside the Kingdom participated in the forum and discussed several themes that focused on reviewing the features of the climate, potentials and challenges of investment in the industries of modern technological developments used in the mining industries, in addition to presenting a set of promising investment opportunities in this field, and the forum represented an opportunity to meet those interested in the mining industry with investors and officials responsible for this industry in the Kingdom.
